James Randolph KIDD 1853 - 1926

James Randolph KIDD Sr., DOB: 8/1/1853. Died 6/23/1926. Buried in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Ft. Worth TX. Married Rachel Susan Taylor, born in TN DOB 9/8/1861. Died 4/16/1947. Buried Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Ft Worth TX.

The following information was was compiled by Rosa ‘Rose’ E. Kidd Austin of Ft Worth, TX, and provided by Jerry D. Kidd of Stillwater, Oklahoma.

J.R. Kidd, Sr., the second child of Edmond Emerson Kidd, moved to Texas in 1886. The U.S. Census of 1880 lists James R. and wife Rachel Susan Taylor, living with her mother Elizabeth (Betsy) Taylor in TN. It is presumed that her husband Wiley (Taylor) was dead at this time. When Betsy married Wiley, he was a widower with a daughter, Frances, and two sons who were killed in the Civil War.
Rachel often said she "was born in Eighteen Hundred and Sixty One, the year the cruel war begun".

By 1886 J.R. had brought his family to Elam Thicket in Dallas county, (called Elam Springs now) in Texas in a wagon pulled by a team of horses. They bought forty acres there and cleared the land to plant crops. A small house was built with a picket fence around it to keep the animals out. Before they could dig a well they got water from 'mudholes' that probably were local naturally occurring ponds.
By 1900, J.R., Sr. and family had apparently moved for a time to Kaufman TX, precinct #8, as the 1900 Census reports them as living there. Shortly thereafter the J.R. Kidd, Sr family moved south of Ft Worth between Everman and Burleson and purchased farm land there. It was there each of the sons were given a small black-land farm by James R. and Rachel when they reached adulthood.

  DOB: 5/25/1892, Married: 7/20/1913, gave A.R. three children. Died 11/19/1919, and is buried in
  Mt Olivet Cemetery, Ft Worth TX. A.R. then married Fannie Lindauer in February, 1921. She
  gave birth to five children; DOB 1/8/1900, died 12/27/1949. She is buried in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
  A.R. and Meta raised their three children in Everman, TX. When Meta passed away, the children were
  5, 3, and 18 months of age. A.R. then married Fannie Lindauer, and the children were accepted
  and loved as her own by their step-mother, along with the five children born to her and Ammie Ruble.
  When A.R. died, Meta's two girls were older and went to live with A.R.’s brother, Oliver Burnside
  KIDD and his wife Gertrude, in Altus, Oklahoma.

Child 7: Earl Timms KIDD Earl Timms Kidd, son of J.R. Kidd, Sr and Rachel Susan Kidd,
was a farmer in Tarrant County TX and Walters OK. Born 7/30/1895 in Texas. He passed away
on 8/7/1969, Walters OK. He married Minnie Mae Youngblood Kidd, born 2/7/1897, she passed
away on 10/6/1986. Both are buried in Walters Cemetery, Walters, Cotton County, Oklahoma.
