CIVIL WAR SOLDIER: Union army, drew a war pension. William H. KIDD served in the
3rd Cav., Co. L (Union) during the Civil War. Fought at Sulphur Branch Trestle on
Sept 24, 1864. He and others of his cavalry unit escaped capture during that
battle, but was reported as missing in action. His military record later reports
him a month later as back on duty with remnants of 3rd Cavalry in Pulaski, TN, June
1865. On Aug 3, 1865 he was mustered out, as was all of the 3rd TN Cavalry.
