MICHAEL A. (Mike) KIDD , DOB August 1, 1857 Maryville TN,
DOD June 9, 1912 Godley, TX. Buried in Godley IOOF Cemetery.
Mike was the fourth child of Edmond Emerson, and rode to Texas on
horseback with his older brother James R.,Sr. seeking a better way of
making a living. The rich black land of Ellis County looked so promising
that they decided to move to Texas and make it their home.
Michael married Zerilda (Rildy) Davis, DOB ca 1867, Alabama,
DOD April 30, 1954 Dallas, TX, Buried in Godley IOOF Cemetery.
She was the sister of his brother Riley’s wife, Theodocia. The census
lists Zerilda born in Alabama. The 1900 census lists them living in Ellis
County (Waxahachie, county seat), Texas.
They were the parents of eight children. Three died in infancy. Michael
was a farmer. After his death, 'Rildy' lived a time with James R. Sr.’s wife,
Rachel, in Fort Worth.
